Multiple Claude accounts with Gmail (the + and dot tricks)

Gmail gives you instant aliases two ways: add <code>+anything</code> before the @ (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.), or move the dots around (j.ohn@ = john@). All land in your inbox. Zero setup — but be aware some services treat This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. as the same as This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

This guide is part of Set up multiple Claude accounts — the full walkthrough for getting several Claude accounts so Power Claude can rotate between them.

Reliability: Fast, but some sign-ups dedupe these

Gmail gives you instant aliases two ways: add <code>+anything</code> before the @ (This email address is being protected from spambots. Works for rotation? Often works, sometimes not. Gmail + and dot aliases use ONE real mailbox with a tag; some sign-up systems collapse them back together. Try it — if rejected, use a distinct-address method.

Step by step

  1. Pick your base Gmail, e.g. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
  2. Plus trick: add + and any word before the @ — This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. No setup; they all arrive in your inbox.
  3. Dot trick: Gmail ignores dots, so This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. also reach you — handy if a site rejects the + sign.
  4. Sign up for Claude with the alias and verify from your inbox.
  5. Add the account to Power Claude. If the sign-up says the email is "already in use," that service deduped the alias — switch to Outlook aliases, iCloud Hide My Email, or a custom domain.

Good to know

  • Some sign-up systems normalize + tags (and dots) back to your base address, so they may not yield a truly separate account.
  • Because all mail lands in one inbox, keep your aliases labeled with a Gmail filter so verification emails are easy to find.

Pro tip: If you want Gmail's convenience but distinct addresses, create a few real Google accounts (see the separate-accounts guide) and use + aliases within each to scale further.
